Predatory Offender Safety Tips & Resources

The Minnesota Department of Corrections has put together some very informative fact sheets that include information on safety tips for children and tips for parents on speaking with their children.

  • Safety Tips for Parents (PDF): Every parent should know and follow these safety tips. Please take the time to read and share this information with your children.

  • Be Alert to Common Tricks (PDF): Most child molesters are known to those they victimize in some capacity. In many cases the molesters are family members, friends, coaches, teachers, etc. Despite this circumstance, there are rare occasions when child molesters are not known to those they victimize. This flyer is intended to help keep children safe from potential molesters who are strangers.
  • Characteristics and Behavioral Indicators of Adults Who Molest Children (PDF): When most people imagine a child molester, they envision an ugly man in a trench coat coaxing children with candy. Child molesters come from all walks of life. They can be male or female, rich or poor, employed or unemployed, religious or non-religious, or from any race.
