Goodview Water Main Extension

Project Summary

The Goodview Avenue area neighborhood is in the northwest area of Cottage Grove. This area includes rural neighborhoods (north and south of, and along 70th Street) consisting of a total of 41 homes.   Currently, four of these homes exceed the Health Based Values (HBVs) for PFAS and require treatment with a whole house filter.

The city will be utilizing grant funding through the 3M Settlement Agreement to extend the watermain to the Goodview Avenue area neighborhood. The 3M Settlement Agreement is being implemented through the recently released, approved Conceptual Drinking Water Supply Plan. The plan provides funding for PFAS related projects for the east metro, as developed by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MDNR), along with the impacted communities.

This project will extend city water at no cost through the neighborhood, providing a permanent drinking water solution and allowing GAC filters to be removed from homes.
