Severe Weather Awareness Week is April 8-12, 2019. For more than 25 years, Minnesota has conducted Severe Weather Awareness Week in partnership with the National Weather Service and local governments.
Two statewide tornado drills will happen on Thursday, April 11, 2019. The first drill is at 1:45 p.m. and allows businesses and schools to practice their emergency plans. The second drill is at 6:45 p.m. and will allow families to practice their plans.
Some Cottage Grove residents may also hear a siren sound at 1 p.m. on Thursday. This is the weekly siren activation at Northern Tier Energy in St. Paul Park and is not part of the statewide tornado drill.

- Tuesday — Severe Weather, Lightning and Hail
- Wednesday — Flooding, Flash Floods
- Thursday — Tornado Safety Information (with statewide tornado drills)
- Friday — Extreme Heat
