Myron Bailey was elected Mayor in 2009 and is serving in his third term. Prior to becoming Mayor, he served as a City Council Member for four years and on the Planning Commission for six years.
Mayor Bailey grew up in Cottage Grove where he attended Pine Hill Elementary School, Oltman Middle School, and Park High School. He graduated from Century College in White Bear Lake with an associate’s degree in Child Development. He also completed general studies at the University of Minnesota.
Mayor Bailey’s business background is in the retail sector in a variety of leadership positions. Currently, he is the District Manager for Pawn America, where he has been employed for the past five years. He has also worked in leadership roles with Payless Shoe Source, Toys ‘R Us, Destination XL, and Radio Shack, up to and including Regional Director positions.
Mayor Bailey is very active in the community because he is very passionate about giving back to the community! He is the President of the Cottage Grove Economic Development Authority (EDA), past President of the Cottage Grove Strawberry Festival Committee, and Past President of All Saints Lutheran Church in Cottage Grove. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Metro Cities and is a Board Member supporting the local area Youth Service Bureau.
Mayor Bailey has been married to Cindy for 32 years. They have three boys (Matthew, Nicholas, and Nathan) and two grandchildren (Easton and Sawyer). Mayor Bailey loves gardening, collecting Star Trek Next Generation memorabilia, and setting up a very large Christmas Display in the front of his home.
