Cottage Grove Home Damaged in Fire
Multiple Victims Transported to Hospital

On February 19, 2017, at 12:56 a.m., Cottage Grove Public Safety was dispatched to the 8200 block of Jensen Ave on a report of garage fire.  Responding units determined the correct address to be 8062 Jensen Ave.

Upon arrival, first responding police officers found the garage fully engulfed in flames and the house filling with smoke.  Officers quickly determined that two people were still inside the residence and made entry into the lower level family room, which was filled with heavy smoke and located two adults.

Fire fighters did arrive within a few minutes and began fighting the fire.  They were subsequently able to extinguish the fire.  While the fire was limited to the garage, the house sustained substantial smoke damage.  Cottage Grove Public Safety did request mutual aid from St Paul Park Fire, Woodbury Public Safety and Allina EMS.

Cottage Grove EMS transported an adult male to Regions Hospital.  Woodbury EMS transported two adult females to Regions Hospital and Allina EMS transported a juvenile male to St Paul Children’s Hospital.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.  The MN State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting with the investigation.

Any person with information or questions regarding this investigation is asked to contact Fire Chief Rick Redenius at 651-458-2850.
