Four Firefighters Sworn in at the April 4 City Council Meeting

Four new Cottage Grove firefighters, Peter Fischer, Tim Oachs, Christy Kreminski, and Mike Armesto, were sworn in at the April 4 City Council meeting.

Fischer holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Hamline University.  He worked as a firefighter/EMT for White Bear Lake, and at the Minnesota Department of Commerce, before being hired as a firefighter/paramedic for Cottage Grove.  Deputy Fire Chief PJ McMahon pinned his badge at the ceremony.

Oaches attended Concordia University St. Paul where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice while playing football all four years. He went on to receive is AAs in paramedicine from Century College. His mother and daughter pinned his badge.

Kreminski received her paramedic degree from Century College and has taken numerous fire courses at Hennepin Technical College. Prior to coming to Cottage Grove she was a firefighter/EMT/paramedic for City of Woodbury. Her sister pinned her badge.

Armesto received his paramedic certification from Century College. Prior to being hired as a fulltime firefighter/paramedic for Cottage Grove he worked as a part-time medic and was deployed multiple times with the National Guard.  Fire Chief Rick Redenius pinned his badge.
